My Altered House Progress Report

Well it's taking a lot longer to do that I thought I would and staining the pages has been has been a labour of love, but I am making progress The house is almost covered in paper hen centre area I think I will leave brown stained but maybe darken out with black soot as well?? not sure yet

but as you can see its almost there. I decided to put little feet onto it, well remember my bargain bag of stuff from the charity shop for a £1 well there were some wooden beads in it that will fit the part well, ,m thinking six should do it. So a bit of kitchen sponge and walnt stain and they should look much better
Now around the top and side section I going to put some lace I like this lace
but its too bright in in present form so maybe its time to make a coffee mix with water and put said lace in to soak and see what result I get, ? Ok coffee making time...to be continued ...

It's amazing what you find when having a sort out

Whilst having a sort out out of a couple of boxes in my craft room (which still need a name, I not found one that quite fits yet) I came across some backgrounds and toppers that needed putting together so I made a couple of quickie cards from my finds one for a new baby girl and one an open card which turned out quite well

Felt brooches

I love felt brooches so decided to have a go at making my own, My husband had got me a wonderful sizzix die as part of my birthday gift, which he let me have a little early, its not my birthday till Friday but I wanted to play with it. Well I cut out some felt in green and purple on my big shot. I decided to make two brooches to start with one with a button and gem centre, the other with bead centre I did three layers on one and two on the other I going to give one of my friends the purple one as purple is her favourite colour. I just know I going to make more of these I might even have a go at a heart shape brooch

I made a matching bookmark (well a different colour but matching design) to go with the swatch card, I have previously made, for my friend's daughter, for her birthday. I have purchased her a book so thought a bookmark would be a nice little addition

I masked the background using a round lace effect mask, which was a gift from a friend I used green shimmer mist, I then added a lady die cut and dominoes a flowers a hear and pin The writing says "thinking of you" I want a collage effect I had fun making it

My little wooden house progress report

The back sections have been stained and glued in,, I have started to stain some of the roof section ready for glueing in place. I am using Matt modge podge to glue and seal. I also stained the outer edges of the wood with distress ink walnut stain
I also tried to get a ruffled effect to some of the backgrounds piece to give in a grungy feel

My second colour swatch card

This time I used blues and silver/grey as the colour palette I also made a longer card.

Colour Swatch Card

I been wanting to try stamping onto colour swatch's for some time. So when I opened January's issue of craft stamper magazine,  and came across Sharon Bliss design using colour swatch's,  which I though look fab I was reminded that I wanted to try that. So I set about looking for a stamp I knew I had, but had not used, also I used my old faithful swirl stamp I use lots. I stamped two images one on a grey tone swatch and one on green I used the green one to make my card. The main design is I believe is an  ellusive image stamp.

I stamped the card background using my swirl stamp and pine needles distress ink which gave it a fab distress look I inked the edges of the card with walnut stain distress ink I mounted the image which was stamped using black staz on onto black card, then green to make it pop I added a gingham green bow and three green gems that were given to me in a goody parcel some time ago by my friend Val (thanks Val) I decided to enter the card to a challenge - Lets ink it up

A little Wooden House just crying out to be altered

Some time last year, I found this little house for sale at our local charity shop,  well I just had to have it. I had not a clue what I was going to do with it and am still not 100% sure where my inspiration will take me but I will design as I go and then stop to think, then do some more.
I have decided to use and old map book we had to cover it with. So first I took out the a couple of pages
Which were quite nice but I not quite what I wanted, I wanted a older, more grungy feel, so I took a piece of wet and dry and several ink Distress ink pads, pine needles, spiced marmalade, walnut stain, and one ink it up black ink and set about inking up one of the pages I wondered at this point if it would be easier to cut the inside shapes first then ink them up, so I sort of changed direction a little but it coming on quite well
The next thing I am going to do is to ink up all the inner paper squares and stain the edges of the frame in walnut stain I am thinking about added some of the beads from my £1 bargain charity shop find for feet maybe? not sure yet, I will modge podge the inner squares in place then set about staining and cutting the side and top pieces. Then I am going to varnish it all. Then comes the fun part I have been collecting little things to add to a project like this, I may need more but what fun its going to be adding the bits and bobs to it.

Yesterday while out to get a few bit we needed we went to one of my favourite charity shops, and in a little basket by the door was a carrier bag of bits and bobs, which I got for the bargain price of £1. Now I have not a clue what I am going to do with them all but when I use them I will post my makes on here so you can all see what I did with my bargain
